As we welcome the season of Chūshū no Meigetsu, or Tsukimi—the traditional moon-viewing night of the full moon—our Gojo tea room has also been given a small seasonal arrangement to welcome autumn.

Susuki pampas grass and delicate kogiku, or small chrysanthemums, are arranged in ceramic flower vases, adding a quiet touch of autumn to the tokonoma alcove.

Kogiku is one of the seasonal flowers traditionally used in the tea room as autumn begins to arrive. Rather than seeking to stand out, it is appreciated for its natural beauty and its ability to gently bring a sense of the season to the tea gathering.

It is also used in Urasenke tea gatherings as a seasonal flower that evokes the quiet beauty of autumn.

The susuki and kogiku gently sway in the quiet tea room, creating a simple and understated arrangement inspired by the season of Tsukimi.
